This homey, comforting location tucked away in Victorian Village is serving up Southern comfort food with a side of worldly flavors to satisfy.
Happy first birthday to Alqueria! We had the privilege of attending a private event just for the Columbus Food Bloggers last week to help them celebrate this momentous occasion and they held nothing back. These guys definitely know what they are doing.
Patrick, Jacob, and Michael all previously worked together at Barcelona in German Village for about 10 years. Talk about a solid foundation. They attribute their stability throughout their first year to the fact that they already knew how to work together as a team. You can’t buy that kind of partnership when starting a business.
While the name Alqueria means farmhouse in Spanish, as an homage to Barcelona, their menu pulls inspiration mostly from Southern comfort foods but bring in world flavors to step it up a notch. For example, the braised beef short ribs set atop an herb mascarpone potato purée and crispy Brussels sprouts, topped with red wine bordelaise and miso bone marrow butter.

And as all locals love to hear, they do their best to source as many Ohio products as possible while maintaining the best quality as possible. An Amish farmer actually comes in every week with amazing products and seasonal items in tow.

While their menu does change seasonally (and they did release a new one for Winter 2020), there are staples that are here for the long haul. Check out some more of the dishes we had!

If happy hour is more your thing, they have a generous one from 2-6pm in the entire restaurant, so there’s no need to squeeze everyone at the bar. They also have an assortment of mocktails!

Need to satisfy your sweet tooth? All desserts are made in house, but while there is no set menu, common options includes creme brulee and bread pudding. We had absolutely no room left for dessert, but you better believe it is happening next time!
