Did you know that CbusFoodBloggers consists of over 50 different bloggers/instagrammers? Some of us you may already stalk follow, and others you haven’t yet had the chance to meet! In an effort to help our readers get to know us and the bloggers behind our group, we conduct monthly interview highlighting one of our members. This month, we have Samantha from Sam Says Yum!

  1. How did you become a food blogger? What is the theme of your blog/IG?

My boyfriend actually came up with the idea. We were talking about things we’re passionate about, mine being food, travel, and trying new things along with photography. He told me I should try to combine all those things and start an Instagram page, so I did and Sam Says Yum was created!

  1. What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself or others?

I’m from an Italian family so meatballs, eggplant parmesan, and anything pasta is a given. I have also found baking to be extremely comforting and my family seems to like everything I bake so I guess I must be somewhat good at it!?

  1. What makes the Columbus food scene great? Or what would you change?

Columbus has such a versatile food scene, which I love! You can literally go anywhere in Columbus and find the best restaurants. You don’t have to go downtown to find high-end eateries; Dublin, New Albany, Upper Arlington, Worthington, or Westerville all have some of the best restaurants in my opinion. The only thing I wish I could change is Columbus’ weather so we could extend the best season; patio season.

  1. What restaurant(s) is at the top of your “must try” list?

Don’t judge, but I still haven’t tried Fox in the Snow! Also on my list is Del Mar, The Market Italian Village, High Bank Distillery, and The Pearl.

  1. What’s (and where) the most memorable meal/dish you had recently?

I have had the most amazing experiences at Martini in the Short North. I am a sucker for any Cameron Mitchell restaurant but, Martini has won me over on its own. It’s so good I chose to go there for my birthday this year. I recommended it for another birthday last month and the service was unbelievable! I will continue to go to Martini for literally any celebration!

  1. Give us the inside scoop — what’s your favorite happy hour, hole in the wall, or hidden gem in Columbus?

Mezzo in Dublin has one of my favorite happy hours, which includes $10 bottles of house wine, half off pizzas, and specials on apps and beer. They also have a live band on Thursday nights.

  1. What is your favorite locally made food product?

Oh man… I’m gonna have to go with Jeni’s and Graeter’s ice cream!

  1. Some of us are not full-time bloggers. If you are not, what is your “real” job?

My real job is an MRI Technologist! I just graduated in May and have been working night shift since July and it is HARD. I’ve really been struggling to get out and try new things because I’m always tired now!

  1. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

So, I used to hate hate hate any type of seafood minus fish. I’d say just over the last year or two I have finally come around. I now enjoy all the foods of the sea; mussels, oysters, crab, lobster, even octopus.

Thanks Sam! Be sure to check our her on Instagram.
