Did you know that CbusFoodBloggers consists of over 50 different bloggers/instagrammers? Some of us you may already stalk follow, and others you haven’t yet had the chance to meet! In an effort to help our readers get to know us and the bloggers behind our group, we conduct monthly interview highlighting one of our members. This month, we have Shannon from Maan Imma Eat!

  1. How did you become a food blogger? What is the theme of your blog/IG?

I became more of a foodie throughout college, noticing several places around High Street. I had a goal to try every place on campus along High Street (which was hard, and I didn’t accomplish because of constantly changing businesses, construction, and being a student). I would always post photos of my food on my personal Instagram whenever I would try new places or just happened to really like the picture I took. After a while several of my friends kept encouraging me to create a food account/blog. I eventually created one after my cousin helped me come up with a cute name. I wanted it to incorporate my name somehow and it worked out so here I am! I also enjoy traveling, trying different foods, and coffee shops in different cities. Over the last year, I’ve been trying to cook more on my own and try new recipes. So, my Instagram is centered around trying places around Columbus, cooking, and places I try when traveling.

  1. What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself or others?

I love cooking and trying new recipes but my go to has always been pasta. It’s just super easy and I love adding extra flavors with lots of garlic and other herbs/spices. Lately I’ve been trying to cook more Indian food and having my mom teach me her recipes!

  1. What makes the Columbus food scene great? Or what would you change?

Columbus’ food scene is great there’s so many options to choose from to fit whatever you’re craving! You have variety and options to choose from like Korean, Indian, South American to Ethiopian. And there’s always new places opening which is always awesome to check out.

  1. What restaurant(s) is at the top of your “must try” list?

My “must try” list is never ending but I’ve wanted to try the No Menu Monday’s at The Market Italian Village. Other places I’ve been wanting to check out Service Bar, Ambrose and Eve, and lastly to have the paella at Barcelona!

  1. What’s (and where) the most memorable meal/dish you had recently?

The most memorable meal I had recently was at Basi Italia. I’ve only been there a few times but every time I’ve always loved it. Cute, cozy, and hidden restaurant in Victorian Village with amazing food.

  1. Give us the inside scoop — what’s your favorite happy hour, hole in the wall, or hidden gem in Columbus?

If you’ve never had Ethiopian food, best place to check out is Lalibela (definite hole in the wall place). Best happy hour Forno and Goody Boy, for both most of their menu is half off during Happy Hour. For hidden gem I will say Basi Italia in Victorian Village.

  1. What is your favorite locally made food product?

It’s going to have to be Jeni’s or anything from Belle’s Bread! It’s hard for me to pick “favorites.”

  1. Some of us are not full-time bloggers. If you are not, what is your “real” job?

So my real job is a fiscal associate at The Ohio State University. Basically, work as a procurement specialist within my area to ensure units are complying with university policy.

  1. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

I’m good at getting my friends drunk with my mango margs. I love making frozen mango margaritas so whenever I make them for my friends, they drink them so quickly because it basically tastes like a mango smoothie. But it’s always a good time and fun to make on warmer days!

Thanks Shannon! Be sure to check our her Instagram.
