Did you know that CbusFoodBloggers consists of over 50 different bloggers/instagrammers? Some of us you may already
stalk follow, and others you haven’t yet had the chance to meet! In an effort to help our readers get to know us and the bloggers behind our group, we conduct monthly interview highlighting one of our members. This month, we have Angela Lee from Find Your Fork!
- How did you become a food blogger? What is the theme of your blog/IG?
Food has been a key component in my life for as long as I can remember! Growing up, food was the ultimate force that brought people together and it was the center of every family gathering. There was always a story behind every meal, every dish, and every ingredient. Every meal was a big event because that was the time for everyone to catch up on everyone’s lives. I actually started out blogging by updating my SnapChat stories with food, food, and more food! A friend suggested that I start a food blog with all my pictures and the rest was history haha. The idea behind my blog was encourage conversation around food by incorporating the stories and culture behind every meal. I take inspiration from the great Anthony Bourdain!
- What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself or others?
Gosh I just love cooking in general! I think that to truly appreciate the story behind what you’re eating you need to know a little bit about cooking (or at least that’s what my mom always tells me anyway lol). I really like cooking traditional Chinese cuisine! It’s a fun way for me to show my friends a little bit of my culture and introduce them to new things! A favorite of mine is dumplings.
- What makes the Columbus food scene great? Or what would you change?
The food scene in Columbus is great because there is so much variety that you can eat something different every day of the week and still have new places to try out! I love that there is so much culture to explore in Columbus through all the new restaurants and cafes that pop up!
- What restaurant(s) is at the top of your “must try” list?
Barcelona is still on the top of my “must try” list! I am absolutely in love in Spanish dishes and have heard such great things about this local restaurant! I hope to try it out when the weather is warmer so I can take full advantage of patio season! I’ll keep you guys posted when I try it out!
- What’s (and where) the most memorable meal/dish you had recently?
Meshikou – their enoki bacon wrap paired with their spicy Mala ramen is AMAZING!! I could eat from their menu every day and still be craving for more!
- Give us the inside scoop — what’s your favorite happy hour, hole in the wall, or hidden gem in Columbus?
Yau’s is probably one of Columbus’s best kept secrets! Tucked away in the obscure corner of 9th Ave and N High Street, Yau’s Chinese Bistro is home to one of the best fast, casual, yet authentic Chinese food. From signature dishes like Singapore noodle, to sautéed pea shoots, to Ma-Po tofu, this little spot has got it all!
- What is your favorite locally made food product?
Jeni’s ice cream, without a doubt! I first tried her ice cream when I moved to Columbus and I’ve been loving it ever since! I love that she always creates such unique flavor combos. I have to try them all!
- Some of us are not full-time bloggers. If you are not, what is your “real” job?
Since graduating from The Ohio State University a few short years ago, I’ve been working full-time as a nurse.
- Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
I got to fulfill every teenage girl’s dream by meeting Michael Phelps in 6th grade! I was a swimmer back then and he and other members of the USA Swim Team visited my pool for a “Swim with the Stars” event!
