Did you know that CbusFoodBloggers consists of over 50 different bloggers/instagrammers? Some of us you may already stalk follow, and others you haven’t yet had the chance to meet! In an effort to help our readers get to know us and the bloggers behind our group, we conduct monthly interview highlighting one of our members. This month, we have Jessica Kapusta from her self-titled blog Jessica Kapusta!

  1. How did you become a food blogger? What is the theme of your blog/IG?

I started food blogging because people would come to my house, eat and then ask for the recipe. It happened often enough that I started my blog as an easy way for people to access my recipes. I make plant based, healthyish, allergy friendly food. I do this because my husband and I both have food intolerances and I’m a big believer in eating whole foods. I also eat out at places that make it easy to eat that way.

  1. What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself or others?

I don’t know if I can narrow this down to one dish. I really like to make people feel special and feed them things they’d like. I often find myself healthing it up a bit, but generally whatever your favorite is it’s my favorite now too!

  1. What makes the Columbus food scene great? Or what would you change?

Coming from a place where I had very limited options, I would say that the awareness of different diets and allergies and intolerances is amazing here. I don’t think you can really find any better until you get to New York or LA. It is amazing to be able to go out again and not have to go to the strange restaurant halfway across town that none of your friends want to go to. I also like how eclectic a lot of the menus are. It makes it easy to find a restaurant that pleases everyone.

  1. What restaurant(s) is at the top of your “must try” list?

So I would love some suggestions! I’ve been to a lot of restaurants in Columbus. My sister-in-law and brother went to school in the area so we often went out to dinner while visiting them. I’m sure there’s some hidden gem I haven’t been, but basically I’ve been everywhere in the Short North and German VIllage. I’d be open to any places that can accommodate a gluten intolerance! That being said, I guess Fox in the Snow? If only…

  1. What’s (and where) the most memorable meal/dish you had recently?

I went to The Sycamore and they kind of made something up for me and it was amazing. I had their veggie burger with more veggies and that spicy pickle they have. They should serious sell those pickles! Their cocktails are also amazing!

  1. Give us the inside scoop — what’s your favorite happy hour, hole in the wall, or hidden gem in Columbus?

I haven’t been to a lot of happy hours yet (working on it), but I love The Sycamore’s. As far as hole in the wall I’m still searching! We really enjoy Hausfrau Haven if that counts as a hidden gem? I love that they serve popcorn with the wine. It makes me feel like Olivia Pope.

  1. What is your favorite locally made food product?

I don’t know much about what’s made here specifically. This category is a little harder for me since I’m restricted in what I can eat. I would, however, love to learn more. Eating and doing things locally is something I try to do as much as possible.

  1. Some of us are not full-time food bloggers. If you are not, what is your “real” job?

I am a Project Mananger for a digital marketing firm.

  1. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

I know/can understand some of 5 different languages.
