Did you know that CbusFoodBloggers consists of over 50 different bloggers/instagrammers? Some of us you may already stalk follow, and others you haven’t yet had the chance to meet! In an effort to help our readers get to know us and the bloggers behind our group, we conduct monthly interview highlighting one of our members. This month, we have Gina Fontana from Healthy Little Vittles!

  1. How did you become a food blogger? What is the theme of your blog/IG?

Healthy Little Vittles is a health food blog that focuses on healthful foods for a more wholesome life. I create naturally gluten free + dairy free + plant based recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less! Because aint nobody got time to spend all day in the kitchen! About 5 years ago, I participated in a fast through my church called the Daniel Fast, eating only fruits and vegetables for 3 weeks. During that fast I felt better than I ever have! Like ever. So that led me to look further into what I was putting into my body and why I had suffered from so many health ailments my whole life. My blog started after that, when I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I was so happy to finally have an answer for my symptoms, but had no clue what the heck that meant or what I could and couldn’t eat. So, I started a food blog to help other people who were like me- lost, confused, and discouraged. That food blog evolved into what it is today, focusing more on whole, plant-based foods and making them common, flavorful meals that anyone can enjoy. I became so passionate about what we put in our bodies that I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and graduated a couple years ago as a certified health coach. I aim to show people that eating healthy is of upmost importance and that it can be easy, fun, and allow for a more quality life!

  1. What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself or others?

I love making any kind of kale salad or gluten free pasta dish! I am Italian, so pasta is in my blood. When I found out I had Celiac Disease I was so so sad! BUT thankfully we have great gluten free options- and they have come a long way over the last few years.

  1. What makes the Columbus food scene great? Or what would you change?

I love making any kind of kale salad or gluten free pasta dish! I am Italian, so pasta is in my blood. When I found out I had Celiac Disease I was so so sad! BUT thankfully we have great gluten free options- and they have come a long way over the last few years.

  1. What restaurant(s) is at the top of your “must try” list?

I actually really want to try Banana Leaf!

  1. What’s (and where) the most memorable meal/dish you had recently?

Hmmm… I make a lot of delicious meals at home, one of my favorites is my garlicky kale pasta with peas + toasted almonds, but you’ve also gotta try the harvest chili meal at Portia’s Café!

  1. Give us the inside scoop — what’s your favorite happy hour, hole in the wall, or hidden gem in Columbus?

One of my favorite places to go out to eat in Columbus (and one that I feel “safe” eating out at) is Portia’s Café! I could probably eat there every day- it’s soooo good! I am so grateful for Portia and her hard work so that people like me can still enjoy eating out and getting out of the kitchen every once in a while.

  1. What is your favorite locally made food product?

I really like Eban’s gluten free bread! It’s hard to find a good gluten free bread, and Eban’s does a great job!

  1. Some of us are not full-time food bloggers. If you are not, what is your “real” job?

I am a new mommy! Let me tell you, it’s a full time job! Haha I also have my own logo + graphic designing business, With All My Art & Soul. I keep myself plenty busy 😉

  1. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!

Oh gosh, hmm… I used to be the lead singer in the bad GinaHatesJohnny! Once upon a time… 🙂
