Have you ever wondered why Columbus is referred to as the Arch City? At the turn of the 20th century, there were dozens of wooden arches that lined High Street lit up by beautiful lights. These arches have since been recreated, and still line High Street today.
It’s no coincidence that High Street is also home to Arch City Tavern! The aptly named gastropub is located in the Short North Arts District and specializes in fresh, hand-crafted food and drinks. The inside of the restaurant is trendy, upscale, and features a giant mural of Old Columbus and her famous arches. Oh, and by the way their food is DELICIOUS!
They have a small menu, but it’s small for a good reason. The owners Georgi and Koli work very hard with their chefs to make sure that all of the items on their menu are perfect. They offer many specials that change seasonally and they take a lot of pride in their food. Their personal favorites are the lamb sliders (which I got and was obsessed with), the bison burger, and the fig pizza, but if I am being honest, you can’t really go wrong when you come to Arch City Tavern!
Our crew of #cbusfoodbloggers DEVOURED the brie en croute appetizer, and several expressed their love of the smoked gouda lobster mac and cheese. If finger foods are your style, they’ve got fish tacos, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a BRATWURST CORN DOG. Feeling a little fancy? How about a black mission fig and arugula salad topped with grilled salmon? Trust us, they’ve got you covered.
Currently, they are working on a truffle burger, which I can’t wait to try! They also have a great happy hour, Monday-Friday from 3-6pm they offer half-priced drafts, wine, and pizzas. AND if you go on a Monday, they have $5 burgers (their burgers are to die for) and I don’t really know what more you could want…
If you haven’t had the chance to check them out, what are you waiting for?!
